Epidemic Jukebox for the Wellcome Collection
I used Python and Arduino to create a jukebox for the Wellcome Collection’s new ‘Being Human’ gallery.
As part of the new permanent gallery in the Wellcome Collection, I (along with a physical maker) created a jukebox that played different songs relating to public health while the user moved a handle along the base. I used a rotary encoder attached to an Arduino to detect the the position of the handle and a Raspberry Pi to play the selected song through some overhead speakers. We also placed LEDs behind a piece of translucent plastic and the song titles to indicate which piece of music was currently playing.
